The Crypto.com Card was once the obvious crypto cashback choice, but it has become less attractive. Basic earns nothing and Plus or Pro costs money every month. Private requires a very large CRO position. The card can still pay off when you genuinely use several perks, but Bybit and OKX are simpler and cheaper for ordinary spending.
The Crypto.com Card is a prepaid Visa managed through the regular Crypto.com App. It has been available for years and became well known for high cashback, Spotify, Netflix and airport lounge access. That old image is no longer accurate. Crypto.com has changed the programme repeatedly and removed several popular benefits.
The free Basic level now earns 0% cashback. A 2% rate costs €3.99 per month or €39.90 per year. A 3% rate costs €24.99 per month or €249.90 per year. The 4% and 5% rates require roughly €45,000 or €450,000 in CRO for twelve months. The card therefore makes the most sense when you use the full Level Up package, not cashback alone.
- Basic provides no cashback
- 2% with Plus and 3% with Pro
- Up to 5% at the highest Private tier
- Plus and Pro require a paid Level Up subscription
- Debit or credit card top-ups cost 1%
- Virtual and physical Visa with selected perks

Crypto.com Card review summary
The card itself has no subscription fee, but this distinction is mainly legal. Without a paid Level Up plan or CRO lock-up, it earns no rewards. The effective cost of Plus or Pro must be deducted from the cashback.
With Plus, you need to spend about €200 each month merely to recover the monthly subscription through 2% cashback. With Pro, the break-even point is approximately €833 at 3%. This excludes the 1% debit or credit card top-up fee and the possibility that CRO falls in value.
Pros
- Virtual and physical Visa card
- 2% to 5% rewards with an eligible Level Up plan
- Higher levels include subscription rebates and lounge benefits
- Crypto.com holds a MiCA licence for Europe
Cons
- The free Basic level earns 0% cashback
- Useful rates require a subscription or a large CRO position
- Debit and credit card top-ups cost 1%
- Crypto.com has removed or restricted several popular perks
What is the Crypto.com Card?
The Crypto.com Card is a prepaid Visa. You are not borrowing from Crypto.com: you first add money to a separate card balance and then spend it. Funding is available from the euro Cash Account, by converting eligible crypto or by using a debit or credit card.
Foris MT Limited issues the card and is licensed in Malta as an electronic money institution. Crypto services in the App are provided by Foris DAX MT Limited, which holds a European MiCA licence. Card issuance and crypto services consequently rely on different permissions.
Read our full Crypto.com review for the distinction between the expensive App and the less expensive Crypto.com Exchange. The card uses the App; the Exchange is a separate trading platform.
Level Up and cashback
Level Up determines the card reward and additional benefits. Basic is free but earns no cashback. Plus earns 2% on up to $1,250 of eligible monthly spending, a maximum of $25 in CRO. Pro earns 3% on up to $2,500, or a maximum of $75.
Private Icy/Rose earns 4% and Obsidian 5% without those monthly spending caps. In return, users commit roughly €45,000 or €450,000 in CRO. CRO is locked or staked for twelve months. Its value can fall sharply during that period, and staking adds technical risks.
Rewards are normally paid in CRO. Eligible users in France, Germany and Italy have been able to select Bitcoin since June 2026, but the BTC rates are half the CRO rates. That choice is not currently listed for other European countries.
Crypto.com Card fees
Fees and costs
The Visa card itself has no monthly or annual membership fee. The recurring costs below belong to Level Up and are necessary for most rewards. A debit or credit card top-up costs 1%; moving euros from the Cash Account avoids this particular fee.
European pricing and regular card rewards
| Level | Cost or requirement | Reward and cap |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | €0 | 0% cashback |
| Plus | €3.99 per month or €39.90 per year | 2% on up to $1,250 of monthly spending |
| Pro | €24.99 per month or €249.90 per year | 3% on up to $2,500 of monthly spending |
| Private Icy/Rose | About €45,000 in CRO for twelve months | 4% without a monthly spending cap |
| Private Obsidian | About €450,000 in CRO for twelve months | 5% without a monthly spending cap |
The official European fee schedule charges 1% when the card balance is topped up by debit or credit card. Moving euros from the Cash Account avoids that specific fee. Buying crypto in the App can still include a price spread.
The physical Basic card costs €4.99. The physical Plus card may cost €24.99 when paid monthly and the user has not yet completed six consecutive subscription payments. Replacement costs €45.01 for Basic and €50 for higher cards. Closing the card account costs €50.
After twelve months without a cardholder-initiated financial transaction, Crypto.com charges €5 per month. This rises to €6 on 1 October 2026. A small purchase stops the fee and restarts the inactivity period.
ATM withdrawals and foreign exchange
The monthly fee-free ATM allowance ranges from €200 at Basic to €1,000 at Obsidian. Crypto.com charges 2% above the applicable allowance. The ATM operator may add its own surcharge.
Until 30 September 2026, Basic pays 0.2% for non-euro transactions within Europe and the United Kingdom and 2% outside that area. Higher card levels do not have a separate foreign transaction fee until that date.
From 1 October 2026, Plus also pays 0.2% within Europe and the United Kingdom. Outside that area, its first €400 each month is free, followed by 2%. Pro has an €800 allowance. The current table keeps Private at 0%. Visa’s rate and any merchant or ATM conversion remain relevant.
Which perks remain?
Plus includes selected subscription rebates for a limited period. Pro provides a longer period and can include Priority Pass under the applicable conditions. Private retains ongoing Spotify, Netflix and Truth+ rebates and wider lounge benefits. Subscription rebates are paid in CRO and have maximum amounts.
The package is much less generous than before. Crypto.com discontinued Expedia, Airbnb, X and Amazon Prime rebates for the highest legacy tiers on 2 November 2025. Spotify and Netflix are not permanent at Plus and Pro either: the current benefit periods are three and six months respectively. Lounge access normally requires an annual subscription or active CRO lock-up.
This history matters. Users pay for a year or commit a large CRO position based on future benefits, while Crypto.com retains the ability to alter them.
The 20% discount does not apply to the card
Our Crypto.com referral code page provides a 20% trading fee discount. It applies exclusively to the Crypto.com Exchange. It does not reduce App pricing, the 1% card top-up fee or purchases made with the Crypto.com Card.
The App and Exchange are separate platforms. The App’s buy and sell price difference can approach 3%, while a card purchase of crypto can cost up to 4%. The Exchange discount should not be used to make those App costs look cheaper.
How to apply for the Crypto.com Card
- Create an account in the Crypto.com App and complete identity verification.
- Open Level Up and select Basic, a subscription or a CRO lock-up.
- Open Card and apply for the virtual Visa.
- Request a physical card if wanted and check the issuance charge.
- Move euros from the Cash Account to the card balance or use another available method.
- Check the current in-app terms for every advertised perk.

Crypto.com offers the widest lifestyle package, but also has the highest fixed or financial entry cost. Bybit is simpler for everyday euro spending. OKX is inexpensive for stablecoin payments but has a low cashback cap. Ether.fi and Nexo add crypto-backed borrowing, making them more complex and risky.

Security and risks
Crypto.com has both a MiCA licence for crypto services and a licensed card issuer in Europe. That is positive, but crypto and CRO are not covered by an ordinary bank deposit guarantee. The card is prepaid, so keep only what you expect to spend soon on its balance.
The largest product risk is CRO. The highest levels require a large position for twelve months. A fall in CRO can outweigh every cashback payment and perk combined. Programme conditions can also change during or after the commitment period.
Enable two-factor authentication and the anti-phishing code, freeze a lost card immediately in the App and preferably fund the euro account by bank transfer rather than debit or credit card.
Our experience and conclusion
The Crypto.com Card looks attractive, and its combination of metal cards, subscription rebates and lounges remains distinctive. We are nevertheless much less enthusiastic than a few years ago. The free card earns nothing and the useful plans have a price.
Plus can still make sense when you spend enough each month and use every temporary subscription benefit. Pro is harder to justify at €24.99 per month. In our view, Private is not sensible when the card is the only reason for committing that much CRO.
Our conclusion: choose the Crypto.com Card only when you have already made a deliberate choice for the wider Crypto.com and Level Up ecosystem. If you mainly want an inexpensive card with clear cashback, Bybit and OKX are better starting points.
