How to buy BNB, step by step

1

Choose a provider with a MiCA authorisation

Compare the exchanges above on trading fees, payment methods and the range of coins. You do not need an account at Binance itself. Create an account and switch on two-factor authentication straight away.

2

Complete your identity check

Every European provider is required to verify your identity (KYC). You upload a valid ID document and take a selfie or short video. This is usually sorted within a few minutes.

3

Deposit euros

Deposit from € 5 by credit card, a SEPA bank transfer or Wero. A card or Wero payment usually lands almost instantly, while a SEPA transfer normally takes a business day.

4

Place an order for BNB

Choose BNB and enter an amount in euros. You do not have to buy a whole BNB; a fraction is fine. A market order buys instantly at the current price, while a limit order lets you set your own price.

5

Store or stake your BNB

Your BNB sits in the exchange wallet. Move larger amounts to a wallet of your own. On the BNB Chain you can also lock up BNB to help secure the network and receive a reward.

Payment methods

You can fund your account and buy BNB with:

  • iDEAL: Direct, gratis (NL)
  • Bancontact: Direct (BE)
  • SEPA overboeking: Gratis bankoverschriving, 1 werkdag
  • Wero: Direct van bank naar bank
  • PayPal: Hoge fee van 2%
  • Creditcard: Hoge fees van rond de 3%

Where can I buy BNB?

BNB, in full Binance Coin, can be bought at various European exchanges from as little as € 5, and no technical knowledge is required. We only show providers that hold a MiCA authorisation and have a good reputation, so you can make your own choice. You pay by credit card, SEPA bank transfer or Wero. You therefore do not need an account at Binance itself to buy BNB.

Binance itself is no longer active in the EU

Binance was the largest crypto exchange in the world for years, but it could not obtain a MiCA authorisation. The company withdrew its application in Greece in June 2026 and had to stop offering its services in the European Union by 1 July 2026. An important reason was that founder Changpeng Zhao pleaded guilty in 2023 in the United States to breaking anti-money-laundering rules. He stepped down as CEO and was succeeded by Richard Teng. That conviction played a role in the assessment of whether the company and its management are fit to hold a MiCA authorisation.

For you as a buyer this means you no longer buy BNB through Binance itself, but from a European provider with a MiCA authorisation. The coin itself remains freely tradable. Buying, selling and holding BNB is legal in the EU.

Only providers with a MiCA authorisation

Since 30 December 2024, the MiCA regulation applies across the entire European Union. National transition arrangements for previously registered firms ended in the course of 2025, so a provider offering crypto services in the EU now needs a MiCA authorisation. An authorisation from one member state passports across all 27. What this means for you:

  • The exchange operates under the continuous watch of an EU supervisor
  • The platform must separate your euros and crypto from its own assets
  • Charges and risks must be communicated clearly before you buy
  • Identity verification via KYC cannot be skipped

An authorisation says something about supervision, not about the price risk of BNB.

The Binance Coin price and volatility

The BNB price is volatile and can rise or fall sharply, sometimes within a single day. The chart below gives an impression of how the price has moved over time. How the price behaved in the past says nothing about the future, so only invest money you can afford to lose.

What is BNB and the BNB Chain?

BNB started in 2017 as the in-house coin of the Binance exchange, giving users a discount on trading fees. Today it is mainly the coin of the BNB Chain, formerly Binance Smart Chain, one of the larger blockchain networks for smart contracts. Many decentralized finance (DeFi) applications, NFT marketplaces and games run on the BNB Chain. BNB is used there to pay transaction costs, the so-called gas.

A characteristic of BNB is its burn mechanism. Binance periodically removes BNB from circulation by burning tokens, with the aim of eventually reducing the total supply to 100 million coins. Because the supply falls slowly this way, BNB is a deflationary coin. Keep in mind that a large part of the coins and the network is strongly tied to a single company, something critics point to.

Staking BNB

The BNB Chain uses a form of Proof of Stake. You can delegate your BNB to a validator that secures the network and receive a reward for it. This is possible at some exchanges with a few clicks or directly from a wallet of your own. When you stake through a provider, you hand your BNB over to a third party and usually pay part of the reward as a fee. The reward is not fixed and withdrawing delegated BNB can take some time.

Storing BNB in a wallet

After your purchase, your BNB sits in the exchange wallet. For larger amounts or longer-term storage, a wallet of your own is safer. Your options:

  • Exchange wallet: built in at the exchange, quick to use, though the keys are not yours
  • Software wallet: an app such as Trust Wallet or MetaMask, which also gives you access to the BNB Chain
  • Hardware wallet: a device such as a Ledger or Trezor holding your keys offline, safest for larger balances

With a wallet of your own you get a recovery phrase of usually twelve or twenty-four words. Whoever has those words has access to your BNB. So keep the recovery phrase offline in a place only you know, never share it, and never store it as a photo or text file on an internet-connected device. If you lose the recovery phrase, your BNB cannot be recovered.

What to look for when choosing an exchange

Buy Binance Coin

Because you no longer buy BNB at Binance itself, you choose a European exchange. Things to look for:

  • How heavy the trading fees and the spread are
  • Which body granted the MiCA authorisation
  • Whether the exchange actually offers BNB (not every party has it)
  • Whether you can stake BNB through the exchange
  • Whether there is an app and support in your language
  • Which payment channels are offered (credit card, SEPA bank transfer or Wero)

Keep in mind that the BNB price can move sharply up and down, and that supervision does not remove that price risk. Decide for yourself how much you can afford to lose and always do your own research before buying BNB.
