Is Queen Elizabeth Really Interested In Blockchain?

A tiny newspaper article in this week’s Financial Times was retweeted by none other than the CEO of Binance, Changpeng Zhao. The original story claimed that the British Monarch, Queen Elizabeth, had expressed an interest in blockchain. CZ cheekily wanted to know how many Bitcoins the inhabitants of Windsor Castle bought in the meantime already.

I’m looking forward to hearing about the Queens experience of blockchain in forthcoming episodes of The Crown.

Said a commenter on the FT’s website, and he probably had guessed the reason for the palace’s letter release in said newspaper. In fact, whenever there is some sort of bad press about the British monarchy being circulated, the Royal Palace tends to counter with an upbeat or positive story about the Queen.

Whether the positive story in question is true or not, no one really knows. One example was earlier this year at the time of the George Floyd protests. At that moment, the hacker collective Anonymous all of a sudden launched a theory surrounding the death of Diana, claiming it was an assassination plot. One day later, Buckingham Palace released the first picture of the Queen, who had not been seen for months and the British papers immediately changed their headlines.

This time round, the mainstream media was filled with negative stories about Charles and Camilla because of the release of season 4 of the popular Netflix show The Crown. It would appear that the people sided with Princess Diana once again and that Camilla has gotten a lot of negative press on social media.

Thus the Queen all of a sudden, just at the moment that Bitcoin is about to go through it’s all time high, declares to a befriended newspaper that she liked reading the Journal of the British Blockchain Association.

Whether it’s true or not, no one know… but that the interest is deflected, that’s for sure, just look at the many amusing answers CZ got. One said:
