Binance remains a powerful and inexpensive global exchange in supported countries. EU residents should not treat it as a normal option because it has no MiCA licence and must wind down regulated EU services.
Binance remains one of the world’s largest crypto exchanges. In supported countries, it combines deep liquidity, hundreds of cryptocurrencies and global spot fees starting at 0.10% maker and taker. It is a strong platform for experienced traders, but availability can no longer be described with one global yes or no.
This English review is intended for an international audience. Users outside the European Union may still be able to register and use Binance under a locally authorised or permitted entity. EU residents face a different situation: Binance does not hold a MiCA licence and its regulated EU services must be wound down rather than offered as normal.

Binance review summary
Binance launched in 2017 and quickly became one of the largest exchanges by trading volume. Its global platform covers spot trading, Earn, staking, margin, futures and options, although each service is restricted to eligible countries and accounts.
The standard VIP 0 spot rate is normally 0.10% maker and 0.10% taker. Paying trading fees with BNB currently reduces those spot rates by 25% to 0.075%. Eligible users registering through our link may also receive up to 20% commission sharing. This is not available in every country and should be verified on the registration and fee screens.
The exchange holds local licences in several markets. Binance FZE, for example, has an active VASP licence from Dubai’s VARA for specified activities. A licence held by one local entity does not authorise Binance everywhere and does not provide MiCA protection to EU clients.
For the European Union, the current status is negative. Binance applied for MiCA authorisation in Greece but withdrew the application on 24 June 2026 because the process would not be completed before the deadline. Binance said it intends to apply in another EU member state. No new country or approval has been announced.
Pros
- Low global spot fees from 0.10%
- Deep liquidity and a wide range of trading pairs
- Advanced spot, margin and derivatives platforms
- 25% spot fee discount when paying with BNB
- Local licences in several markets outside the European Union
Cons
- No MiCA licence in the European Union
- The Greek MiCA application was withdrawn in June 2026
- Products and legal protections vary substantially by country
- The large number of products can overwhelm beginners
Binance availability by region
The legal entity, products and payment methods shown in a Binance account depend on residence. Before registering, check:
- whether Binance accepts new customers in the country;
- which Binance entity is named in the agreement;
- which local regulator, if any, authorises that entity;
- whether spot, Earn, margin and derivatives are available;
- which fiat methods and withdrawal rules apply.
Access to a website or app does not by itself prove that every service may legally be offered in a country. A global licence list should never be read as one worldwide authorisation.
Important notice for European Union users
The maximum MiCA transition period ended on 1 July 2026. Binance did not obtain a MiCA licence before that date.
ESMA expects an unauthorised provider to:
- stop onboarding new EU clients and cease marketing regulated crypto services;
- limit existing services to selling, transferring, reallocating assets and closing positions;
- keep custody available only as long as necessary for an orderly exit;
- communicate the timetable and any final deadline to affected clients.
Binance’s previous national registrations do not replace MiCA after the transition. The withdrawn Greek application was not a licence and the announced plan to apply elsewhere does not change the present status.
How to open an account where Binance is supported
- Confirm that Binance accepts residents of your country.
- Read the legal entity and product restrictions shown during registration.
- Create the account and complete identity verification.
- Secure the account with an authenticator or security key and an anti phishing code.
- Choose an available deposit method and verify all charges.
- Review the trading pair, order type and final fee before submitting an order.
How to open an account with Binance
Create an account
Open a free account and verify your identity (KYC) with an ID. This usually takes just a few minutes.
Deposit funds
Add euros with a payment method that suits you. Bank methods are usually free.
Buy Binance
Go to the Binance market, enter the amount you want to invest and confirm. You can buy a fraction; you don't need a whole coin.
Store it safely
Keep your Binance in the exchange wallet or move it to your own wallet for full control. Never share your private keys or seed phrase.
EU residents should not use these registration steps unless Binance later becomes properly authorised for their country and explicitly accepts them. Existing EU users should instead follow the withdrawal or wind down instructions in their own account.
Binance fees
For a common global VIP 0 spot account, both maker and taker orders start at 0.10%. A $1,000 trade therefore costs $1 before discounts. Paying with BNB reduces the rate by 25% to 0.075%, or $0.75 on the same trade.
The actual cost can differ because of:
- the account’s VIP level and 30 day volume;
- BNB holdings and the setting to pay fees with BNB;
- temporary zero fee or reduced fee pairs;
- referral commission sharing and account eligibility;
- the product, such as spot, margin, futures or options;
- withdrawal fees and the selected blockchain network;
- card, bank and local payment charges.
Always use the personal fee page and order preview. A headline spot rate does not include the bid and ask spread, slippage or network withdrawal cost.
Fees and costs
Eligible new users in supported countries can receive up to 20% commission sharing. Regional restrictions and account eligibility apply.These are common global rates for a regular Binance account. The personal fee page is decisive because rates, pairs, promotions and products vary by country. EU residents should read the separate restriction tab.
Common VIP 0 rates in supported countries
| Level | Maker | Taker | Details |
|---|---|---|---|
| VIP 0 standard | 0.10% | 0.10% | Most regular spot pairs |
| Pay fees with BNB | 0.075% | 0.075% | 25% discount while the programme applies |
| Higher VIP level | Variable | Variable | Based on volume and BNB balance |
| Referral commission sharing | Up to 20% returned | Up to 20% returned | Only eligible accounts and countries |
Binance compared with European alternatives
Outside the European Union, Binance can be attractive for its liquidity, low fees and broad product range. Within the EU, authorisation comes first. An exchange that cannot onboard or normally service the user is not a practical option, even if its global fee is lower.
EU residents can consider a MiCA authorised provider such as Bitvavo where available. Bitvavo begins at 0.15% maker and 0.25% taker and focuses on euro trading. The best alternative depends on residence, desired assets and local payment methods.
Compare exchange fees
| Exchange | Effective fee |
|---|---|
| OKX | 0.080% ★ |
| Bybit EU | 0.225% ★ |
| Bitvavo | 0.250% |
| Coinbase | 1.490% |
| Kraken | 1.500% |
| Crypto.com | 2.400% ★ |
| Bitpanda | 2.490% |
| BTC Direct | 3.000% |
★ Effective fees include our exclusive offers where available. Fees are indicative, check the exchange for current rates.
Binance products
The main global product is the spot exchange. It supports market, limit and several conditional order types across a large number of pairs. Deep order books are particularly useful for active traders because they can reduce price impact on popular markets.

Earn and staking provide variable returns on eligible assets. Margin, futures and options add leverage and liquidation risk and are not available in every country. A product shown in educational material may still be disabled for a specific account.

The interface has improved, but the number of wallets, products and order types can still overwhelm a beginner. Start with spot trading and avoid leverage unless you understand collateral, funding, liquidation and the full fee structure.
Security and reliability
Binance offers two factor authentication, security keys, anti phishing codes, device controls, withdrawal protection and a SAFU emergency fund. It also publishes Proof of Reserves. A reserve snapshot can help verify onchain assets, but it is not a complete audit of every asset, liability and legal claim across the Binance group.
In 2019, attackers stole 7,047 BTC from a hot wallet and Binance compensated affected users. In 2023, Binance and its founder reached a major settlement with United States authorities over anti money laundering and sanctions compliance failures. Both the reimbursement and the compliance history matter when judging the platform.
No security feature or licence eliminates exchange risk. Keep only funds required for trading on a custodial platform and verify every withdrawal address and network.
Reviews and support
Experienced users often value Binance for its liquidity, fees and range of tools. Common complaints concern account checks, slow case handling and the complexity of moving funds between products.
Regional reviews are especially important. A positive experience in Dubai, Bahrain or another supported market does not prove the same product or protection is available in Europe. When seeking help, use only the official Help Center and chat inside the account.
Company and regulatory details
- Brand: Binance
- Founded: 2017
- Contracting entity: varies by country
- Example global licence: Binance FZE, Dubai VARA VASP licence VL/24/04/001
- European Union status: no MiCA licence
- Greek MiCA application: withdrawn on 24 June 2026
- Announced next step: application in another EU member state, with no country or date confirmed
Conclusion of our Binance review
Binance is still a strong global exchange for eligible users outside the European Union. Its low spot fees, liquidity and product range are difficult to match, but the country specific legal structure requires more attention than the old idea of one worldwide Binance account suggests.
EU residents should regard Binance as unavailable for normal new business until an authorised European entity appears in the MiCA register. A future application is not the same as approval.
Our global rating is 4.0 out of 5 for users in supported countries. That score does not apply to EU residents who cannot be onboarded or receive normal regulated services.
