Best crypto exchanges 2026: top 10 compared

Make CryptoTips a preferred source on Google

The best crypto exchange depends heavily on where you live. A platform can offer deep liquidity and derivatives globally while being unavailable to residents of the European Economic Area. This English ranking therefore covers both Global and EU platforms, with clear availability warnings.

We compare trading fees, liquidity, asset selection, ease of use, regulation and track record. A MiCA authorisation is important for European service, but it does not guarantee investment returns or eliminate counterparty risk. Users outside Europe must check their own local restrictions.

Fees can fall with volume or membership status. Instant-buy prices may include a separate fee and spread, so compare the final amount of crypto received rather than the headline percentage alone.

1. OKX: best overall crypto exchange

OKX logo

OKX combines a large Global exchange with a separate European service operated through its MiCA-authorised Maltese entity. Global users get deep spot and derivatives markets, while eligible EEA users receive euro deposits, spot trading, X-Perps, the OKX Card and a large Web3 wallet.

Global spot fees commonly start at 0.08% maker and 0.10% taker. In Europe, a spot-only account can start at 0.20% maker and 0.35% taker; an eligible X-Perps account can receive the 0.08% and 0.10% spot schedule. You do not need to trade with leverage simply because the account offers it.

Our link currently provides a 20% trading-fee discount, €20 in Bitcoin after the qualifying deposit and an 8% deposit promotion subject to its cap and campaign terms.

2. Bitvavo: best exchange for euro trading

Bitvavo website

Bitvavo is a Dutch, MiCA-authorised exchange focused on the European market. It combines a simple purchase flow with an order book, more than 450 assets, euro trading, recurring purchases and staking. Its scale and deep euro markets make it easier to recommend than smaller European brokers.

Entry-level fees are 0.15% maker and 0.25% taker, with lower tiers at higher volume. SEPA and several local payment methods are free, while PayPal carries a surcharge. Bitvavo also offers an account guarantee of up to €100,000 under specific conditions; this is not a bank deposit guarantee.

New users registering through our offer receive €10 in Bitcoin after depositing €10 and can trade their first €10,000 without trading fees, subject to the promotion terms.

3. Binance: excellent globally, unavailable in the EEA

Binance Exchange

Binance remains one of the strongest exchanges globally for liquidity, market selection, spot trading, futures, Earn and advanced order types. Standard spot fees are 0.10%, with an additional discount when eligible fees are paid in BNB.

The regulatory situation changes the conclusion for Europe. Binance does not currently hold a MiCA authorisation and cannot be treated as an available EEA exchange after the transition deadline. The link below is therefore only for users in supported jurisdictions outside the EEA who confirm their local eligibility.

Eligible Global users receive the referral discount shown during registration, including up to 20% lifetime fee kickback and a separate futures discount where the terms apply.

4. Bybit: separate Global and EU platforms

Bybit Logo

Bybit must be assessed as two platforms. Bybit Global offers the broadest selection, derivatives, bots and deep liquidity in supported non-EEA countries. Bybit EU is a separate Austrian MiCA entity with its own order books, a smaller compliant selection and no unrestricted access to Global derivatives.

Global spot fees commonly start at 0.10% maker and taker. Bybit EU starts at 0.10% maker and up to 0.25% taker. The EU service adds euro payments, Earn products and the Bybit Card.

Our current Bybit EU deal gives eligible new users $50 in crypto after a $100 deposit plus 10% off trading fees. The Global offer and available tasks can differ by country.

5. Crypto.com: use the Exchange, not the expensive App

Crypto.com Logo

Crypto.com consists of two different trading experiences. The App is easy to use but can add a price markup of around 3%, and card-funded App purchases can cost up to 4%. The separate Crypto.com Exchange uses visible order-book fees, starting at 0.25% maker and 0.50% taker below $10,000 in 30-day volume.

The platform holds a MiCA authorisation for EEA services and offers hundreds of assets, Earn products, a prepaid card and a self-custody wallet. CRO-based benefits introduce extra token-price and lockup risk.

Our 20% discount applies only to eligible trading fees on the Crypto.com Exchange for the promotional period. It does not reduce App spreads, App purchase fees or card costs.

6. KuCoin: Global platform only while EU service is suspended

Top exchange KuCoin

KuCoin offers a large Global selection, spot trading, futures, bots and Earn products in eligible jurisdictions. Global spot fees normally start at 0.10% maker and taker, with possible reductions through volume and KCS.

KuCoin EU is a legally separate, MiCA-authorised Austrian company. Its licence remains valid, but registrations, trading, deposits and new business activities have been suspended since January 2026 while governance and compliance appointments are completed. KuCoin stated again on 30 June 2026 that services had not yet resumed and that existing assets remained withdrawable.

The CTA below is for eligible non-EEA users only. It must not be used to bypass European restrictions.

7. Bitget: useful tools, but no MiCA authorisation

Bitget website

Bitget is known for copy trading, trading bots, a broad asset selection and spot and derivatives markets. Standard Global spot fees normally start at 0.10%, before any referral reduction.

Bitget is working on European authorisation but does not currently hold a MiCA licence. We therefore do not present it as an option for EEA residents. Users in supported countries outside the EEA must still check their local rules and consider the weaker regulatory protection compared with a licensed domestic platform.

The current Global referral offer includes a 10% lifetime trading-fee discount and campaign rewards of up to $5,000, subject to tasks, volume and regional eligibility.

8. BloFin: advanced offshore exchange

BloFin focuses on active traders with spot markets, futures, bots, copy trading and demo trading. Standard spot fees are around 0.10% maker and taker, while futures commonly start at 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker. It also publishes Proof of Reserves and uses external custody infrastructure.

The drawbacks are material: BloFin has no MiCA authorisation, no normal direct euro withdrawal route and a shorter track record than the largest exchanges. Its offshore structure and derivatives focus make it unsuitable for EEA residents and less appropriate for beginners.

We could not verify a fixed CryptoTips fee discount for BloFin. Check the live offer and country restrictions rather than relying on an old bonus headline.

9. Coinbase: reputable but expensive

Coinbase is a listed US company with a strong compliance profile and MiCA-authorised European service. It is easy to use, supports many assets and offers recurring purchases, staking and a more advanced order book.

The simple purchase interface is expensive because the quoted price can include both a variable fee and spread. Coinbase Advanced is more transparent but starts at approximately 0.40% maker and 0.60% taker. That remains substantially above Bitvavo, OKX and many Global competitors.

The current referral route may provide $10 in Bitcoin where the account and country qualify. Confirm the displayed terms before depositing.

10. Kraken: many licences, high fees

Kraken has operated since 2011 and has a long security track record plus numerous regulatory permissions. Kraken Pro provides a serious order book, staking and euro markets, while the regular interface is accessible to beginners.

Price is the weakness. Instant Buy charges 1% plus a variable spread, and Kraken Pro begins around 0.40% maker and 0.80% taker. Recurring purchases can cost even more. For standard euro spot trading, Bitvavo is usually much cheaper where available.

Kraken does not currently have an exclusive CryptoTips fee discount. Compare its final order price before registering.

Which exchange should you choose?

For most European users, we prefer Bitvavo for simple euro trading and OKX for more advanced features. Bybit EU is a useful third option. Coinbase and Kraken are regulated and established, but their entry-level fees are difficult to justify for ordinary purchases.

Outside the EEA, OKX Global, Binance, Bybit Global, KuCoin, Bitget and BloFin can provide more markets and derivatives. Their availability and legal status vary by country. Leverage also magnifies losses and is not suitable for beginners.

Before depositing, verify the legal entity, final fee, spread, withdrawal method and current promotion. Keep long-term holdings in self-custody only if you understand private-key security.
