Bitget is a capable and inexpensive global trading platform in supported countries. EU residents should wait because its Austrian MiCA application is still pending and does not yet authorise European services.
Bitget is a large global crypto exchange built around low fees, copy trading, futures and automated trading tools. In supported countries outside the European Union, the platform can be an attractive option for experienced traders.
This English review serves an international audience. Bitget does not yet hold a MiCA licence, so EU residents should not use our registration link. Bitget EU has applied to Austria’s Financial Market Authority, but the timing, scope and outcome remain entirely subject to regulatory assessment.

Bitget review summary
Bitget launched in 2018 and became best known for copy trading and crypto derivatives. Its global platform also offers spot trading, margin, Earn, staking and trading bots, depending on the country.
Standard global spot fees start at 0.10% maker and 0.10% taker. Paying fees with BGB normally gives a 20% discount and reduces both to 0.08%. Published base rates for global crypto futures are 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker, excluding funding and potential liquidation loss.
Bitget publishes monthly Proof of Reserves and maintains a Protection Fund that it says should remain worth at least $300 million. Its May 2026 reserve update reported a total reserve ratio of 127%. These are useful disclosures, but they are not equivalent to bank deposit insurance or a full audit of every group company and liability.
Regulation is the main limitation. Bitget has registrations in several countries, including Australia and El Salvador. Those permissions do not cover the European Union. Bitget EU’s Austrian application is still pending and provides no MiCA protection until it is approved and entered in the official register.
Pros
- Low global spot fees from 0.10%
- 20% spot fee discount when paying with BGB
- Extensive copy trading and automated tools
- Large global futures platform
- Monthly Proof of Reserves and a Protection Fund
Cons
- No MiCA licence in the European Union yet
- The Austrian application has no guaranteed outcome or approval date
- Products and legal protections vary substantially by country
- Copy trading and leveraged products can cause rapid losses
Bitget availability by country
The legal entity and products shown in a Bitget account depend on residence. Before registering, confirm:
- that Bitget accepts residents of the country;
- which company is named in the agreement;
- which local regulator supervises that company;
- whether spot, copy trading, Earn, margin and futures are enabled;
- which deposit and withdrawal methods are available.
The English link is intended only for eligible users in supported countries outside the European Union. Opening the website or downloading the app does not prove that every service may legally be offered where you live.
MiCA status for EU users
Bitget EU has submitted an application for authorisation as a crypto asset service provider to the Austrian FMA. Bitget states that it intends to provide EU services after approval and completion of all required steps.
The company also makes clear that there is no guarantee about timing, scope or outcome. Until approval:
- Bitget is not a MiCA authorised provider;
- normal onboarding of new EU clients is not permitted after 1 July 2026;
- earlier national registrations do not replace MiCA;
- global products must not be assumed to be available in the EU;
- existing users should follow the instructions and terms shown in their account.
France has a stricter, explicit position. Bitget stopped new French registrations on 16 January 2026 and discontinued all services for French residents on 31 March 2026.
Opening an account where Bitget is supported
- Confirm that Bitget supports your country and desired product.
- Read the legal entity and regional restrictions shown during registration.
- Create the account and complete identity verification.
- Enable an authenticator or security key and set an anti phishing code.
- Choose an available deposit method and review all charges.
- Start with spot trading before considering copy trading or leverage.
How to open an account with Bitget
Create an account
Open a free account and verify your identity (KYC) with an ID. This usually takes just a few minutes.
Deposit funds
Add euros with a payment method that suits you. Bank methods are usually free.
Buy Bitget
Go to the Bitget market, enter the amount you want to invest and confirm. You can buy a fraction; you don't need a whole coin.
Store it safely
Keep your Bitget in the exchange wallet or move it to your own wallet for full control. Never share your private keys or seed phrase.
EU residents should not follow these registration steps unless Bitget later receives MiCA authorisation and explicitly accepts their country. Existing EU users should check their personal account notices.
Bitget fees
The common global rates are:
- spot maker: 0.10%;
- spot taker: 0.10%;
- spot with BGB fee payment: 0.08% maker and taker;
- futures maker: 0.02%;
- futures taker: 0.06%;
- crypto deposits: normally free on Bitget’s side;
- crypto withdrawals: variable by asset and network.
A $1,000 spot trade costs $1 at the standard rate or $0.80 with the BGB discount. The final outcome also depends on spread, slippage and execution price.
Futures costs require extra care. Funding payments recur while a position remains open, and leverage can lead to forced liquidation. A low headline fee does not make the product low risk.
Fees and costs
The English referral link may provide a 10% trading fee rebate and a promotional reward for eligible users in supported countries. Check the exact conditions during registration.These are common global Bitget rates. Personal fees, products and promotions can differ by region, account and trading pair. EU residents should read the separate status tab and should not use the registration link.
Common rates in supported countries
| Level | Maker | Taker | Details |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | 0.10% | 0.10% | Regular spot pairs |
| Pay with BGB | 0.08% | 0.08% | 20% discount while the programme applies |
| VIP level | Variable | Variable | Based on volume and BGB balance |
Bitget compared with European alternatives
For an eligible global trader, Bitget is attractive because of copy trading, derivatives and low fees. For an EU resident, authorisation comes first. A pending application does not provide the protections of an approved MiCA entity.
EU users can consider a licensed platform such as Bitvavo where available. Bitvavo starts at 0.15% maker and 0.25% taker and focuses more strongly on euro spot trading.

Bitget products
Copy trading lets a user automatically follow positions opened by another trader. The follower still bears the loss. Historical performance, follower counts and a public ranking do not guarantee that the strategy will remain profitable.
The following images show older global marketing and product interfaces. Regional availability may now differ.

Spot trading is the simplest product. Margin and futures add borrowing, funding and liquidation risk. Earn and staking add counterparty, protocol and lockup risk. Availability and terms can change without the global marketing page disappearing.
Security and reserves
Bitget supports two factor authentication, security keys, anti phishing codes, device management and withdrawal protection. Users can verify inclusion in the published reserve data through a Merkle based tool.
Proof of Reserves is a useful transparency measure, but it remains a snapshot. It does not automatically establish the financial health of every legal entity or show every offchain liability.
The Protection Fund is maintained by Bitget and is not a statutory compensation scheme. Do not assume every loss, account dispute or platform failure will be reimbursed.

Reviews and support
Experienced users often praise the low fees, copy trading and wide range of tools. Complaints tend to involve account checks, regional restrictions, liquidation disputes and the time needed to resolve support cases.
Always compare reviews from the same region and legal entity. A user in Australia or El Salvador may have different products, payments and protections from a user in Europe.
Company and regulatory details
- Brand: Bitget
- Founded: 2018

- European company: Bitget EU
- MiCA application: Austrian Financial Market Authority
- EU status: application pending, no licence yet

Conclusion of our Bitget review
Bitget is a feature rich and inexpensive global platform for eligible users. Copy trading and derivatives make it more suitable for experienced traders than complete beginners.
EU residents should wait for the Austrian authorisation process to finish. An application is not a licence, and the global English platform should not be treated as a workaround for European rules.
Our global rating is 4.0 out of 5 for users in supported countries. That rating does not apply to EU residents who cannot be normally onboarded under MiCA.
