SNL Returns With Elon Musk As Host And Bitcoin As Sketch?

Elon Musk, the Technoking of Tesla and Imperator of Mars sent out two well-read tweets this past weekend. He first asked what does the future HODL in a clear reference to crypto.

He then informed his 52 million followers he would be hosting SNL (Saturday Night Live) upon its return on the 8th of May.

By Sunday morning, the fact that Musk would be hosting SNL had gone so viral that it was the best-read article on the New York Times.

With that, the cryptosphere has high hopes of finally seeing a sketch about digital currencies, Bitcoin or even Dogecoin on the best watched weekend show on US television. Musk is known for his fangirling of Bitcoin (and his love for the meme currency Dogecoin) and therefore the Saturday Night Live platform would be perfect to spread further awareness.

Musk has in the past made numerous cryptic bitcoin and crypto-related Twitter posts, even aggravating the SEC who was rumoured to have a look into his Dogecoin tweets. When Tesla announced its huge bitcoin buy in early February, Musk admitted that his Dogecoin posts shouldn’t always be taken too seriously though.

Responding to a story that appeared in the press earlier this week that he sold his Bitcoin, Musk stated:

I have not sold any of my Bitcoin. Tesla sold 10% of its holdings essentially to prove liquidity of Bitcoin as an alternative to holding cash on balance sheet.

Lastly, it wouldn’t even be such a big jump for SNL to discuss Bitcoin (or even Dogecoin). A few weeks ago, they already did a sketch in which they explained the NFT (Non Fungible Tokens) hype to the greater US public.

In it, we saw Pete Davidson parody Eminem and Kate McKinnon as Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen whilst both were singing and rapping about crypto.

The clip immediately went viral and was later on sold as an actual NFT.
