Edward Snowden Reacts to New Bitcoin All-Time High

The prize for calling the stock market bottom of the last Wall Street crash goes to then President of the United States Barack Obama, who famously stated on 3 March 2009, one week before the market reached its absolute bottom (of the 2008 crash aftermath), that stocks had gotten to the point where buying stocks is a potentially good deal. Since then, the Dow has multiplied many times over.

The prize for calling the Bitcoin bottom of 2020 should normally (unless Bitcoin crashes in the next few weeks) go to NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden. On 13 March, at the time of the infamous Bitcoin crash which saw the crypto lose 50% of its value in a day, Snowden stated:

This is the first time in a while I’ve felt like buying bitcoin. That drop was too much panic and too little reason.

One word

In the past few weeks, as Bitcoin went from all time high to new all time high and it became clear that institutional investors were flocking to the crypto market, Snowden has revisited his Bitcoin comments of March, claiming on 7 December already:

Today I learned the dollar has lost 99.93% of its value since 2013 (relative to Bitcoin).

One word: Bitcoin.

Earlier this week, just as Bitcoin broke through the $20k mark (it has hit $23k as a new all time high since then), Snowden tweeted:

One word: Bitcoin.

Snowden has a long history with Bitcoin in fact. The former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) employee revealed in his book Permanent Record that the servers he used to leak government secrets were paid for in Bitcoin.

Wikileaks

He then went on informing his 4.5 million followers about the upcoming pardon of Julian Assange, the Wikileaks founder.

Let’s get you on the podcast, Ed.

DM’d you

Meanwhile Bitcoin Bull Anthony Pompliano invited Snowden to join him on the Pomp Podcast soon and talk about all things crypto. We sure look forward to listening to that one.
