Phemex has a capable global trading platform and competitive fees, but it does not hold a MiCA authorisation. We see no confirmed route to an imminent EU return, so EEA users should choose an authorised alternative. Users elsewhere must check local availability.
Phemex is a global crypto exchange offering spot, futures, margin, bots and Earn products. Its trading software is extensive, but it lacks the MiCA authorisation required to provide regular crypto services to EEA clients after the transitional period.
We therefore do not provide an EEA registration link. A historic registration in Poland or a Polish entity in the terms is not equivalent to a MiCA licence.

Summary of our Phemex review
Phemex was founded in 2019 by former Morgan Stanley executive Jack Tao. It developed into a derivatives focused exchange with hundreds of spot markets, perpetual futures, copy trading and automated bots.

The platform can be relevant in supported non-EEA markets. For European users, the missing authorisation outweighs its low fees and product range.
Pros
- Large global market selection
- Low futures trading fees
- Advanced orders, copy trading and bots
Cons
- No MiCA authorisation
- Not a suitable exchange for EEA users
- High leverage and liquidation risk
- Legal structure is less transparent than regulated regional alternatives
Does Phemex have a MiCA licence?
No. Phemex is not presented as an authorised MiCA provider and does not list an active authorisation. Its terms name Phemex Poland sp. z o.o., but a company or legacy VASP registration does not provide an EU passport after the MiCA transition.
Phemex has not confirmed that a MiCA application will lead to an imminent launch. We therefore treat the exchange as unsuitable for EEA residents until a verifiable authorisation appears.
What does Phemex offer globally?
The global platform advertises more than 600 spot pairs and over 500 futures contracts. It also provides market, limit and conditional orders, copy trading, grid bots, margin and products involving the PT token.

Futures are a core product. They do not give ownership of the underlying crypto and leveraged positions can be liquidated completely.
How to open an account with Phemex
Create an account
Open a free account and verify your identity (KYC) with an ID. This usually takes just a few minutes.
Deposit funds
Add euros with a payment method that suits you. Bank methods are usually free.
Buy Phemex
Go to the Phemex market, enter the amount you want to invest and confirm. You can buy a fraction; you don't need a whole coin.
Store it safely
Keep your Phemex in the exchange wallet or move it to your own wallet for full control. Never share your private keys or seed phrase.
Using Phemex outside Europe
Residents of supported non-EEA markets should still confirm the rules for their country. Phemex can restrict a product based on IP address, physical location or KYC residence.
- Confirm that the country and specific product are supported.
- Complete KYC before depositing funds.
- Enable 2FA and withdrawal whitelisting.
- Test a small deposit and withdrawal.
- Avoid high leverage without relevant experience.
- Check funding and liquidation price before every futures position.
Phemex fees
The standard spot fee is 0.10% for makers and takers. Futures start at 0.01% maker and 0.06% taker. Higher VIP levels reduce those rates.

Paying fees with PT provides a stated 20% discount on spot and 10% on USDT futures. Holding PT adds token price risk. Funding and withdrawal costs remain variable.
Fees and costs
Rates shown are base fees. VIP tiers and PT payments may reduce them. Funding, spread, blockchain and liquidation costs are separate from the trading fee.
Base fee tier
| Product | Maker | Taker |
|---|---|---|
| Spot | 0.10% | 0.10% |
| Futures | 0.01% | 0.06% |
| VIP 5 spot | 0.035% | 0.055% |
| VIP 5 futures | 0.001% | 0.035% |
Phemex compared with a MiCA exchange
Phemex offers more derivatives and automation than many European retail platforms, but it lacks an EU authorisation. Bitvavo, OKX Europe and Bybit EU operate within a regulated European framework.
A low futures fee is not a sufficient reason to use a platform that is not set up for a user’s jurisdiction.
Compare exchange fees
| Exchange | Effective fee |
|---|---|
| OKX | 0.080% ★ |
| Bybit EU | 0.225% ★ |
| Bitvavo | 0.250% |
| Coinbase | 1.490% |
| Kraken | 1.500% |
| Crypto.com | 2.400% ★ |
| Bitpanda | 2.490% |
| BTC Direct | 3.000% |
★ Effective fees include our exclusive offers where available. Fees are indicative, check the exchange for current rates.
Bonuses and the PT token
Phemex has advertised very large deposit and trading rewards. These headline amounts normally require tasks and substantial volume and are not simply withdrawable cash.

We no longer present the old bonus as an EEA offer. PT staking and fee discounts do not solve the licensing issue.
Is Phemex safe?
Phemex provides cold storage controls, KYC, 2FA and a proof of reserves page. These are useful, but proof of reserves does not necessarily show every liability or the legal protection that applies to each client.
The major issue for Europe is regulation rather than the interface. Without MiCA authorisation, Phemex is not an appropriate custody or trading venue for EEA residents.
Conclusion of our Phemex review
Phemex has a capable global futures product and low base fees. We do not recommend it in the EEA because it has no MiCA authorisation and no confirmed short term route to one.
Users outside Europe must verify local eligibility. EEA users should choose an authorised regional exchange.

I really liked this platform. I recommend it. I like the site design, and everything that is written in it. Thanks to the developers for advice, help, for such a work done. Very cool, I will really like to advise everyone, thank you! An excellent exchange with impressive liquidity. This is not Exmo for you. On the site, you can choose a more advanced version for technical analysis (this is for a seasoned trader) and an interface for a beginner. The resource has a nice design, the platform is Russified. The Russian language can be selected in the upper right corner. The exchange can be used as an exchanger, exchanging one cryptocurrency for another or for dollars. Online training seminars on working with the platform are periodically held. Recently, Binance has introduced support for the ruble with which you can buy or sell a specific cryptocurrency.

The best cryptocurrency I have ever used. This is way better than blockchain.com wallet. I strongly recommend this!

I like the potential for a high leverage strategy with intelligence for building wealth conservatively. Stop-loss is an example of wealth-building intelligence. I am willing to see just how smart the pre-intelligence tool-set is? It would be great to see profit from bitcoin volatility both ways.
