HTX remains a sizeable global exchange, but it is not available in the European Union and has no MiCA authorisation. European users should not try to bypass the restriction. We therefore show Bitvavo as the active regulated alternative.
Huobi is now called HTX. The exchange officially rebranded in 2023 and moved its main website to HTX.com. The more important update for European readers is that HTX is not available in the European Union.
The HTX user agreement lists all EU member states as restricted jurisdictions. HTX also has no MiCA authorisation that would make the global platform available across the EU. We therefore do not link to an HTX registration page.

HTX review summary
HTX is a large international exchange with a broad selection of spot markets, margin products, futures, bots and earning products in eligible countries. Its history goes back to the launch of Huobi in 2013.

For EU residents those global features are beside the point. Registration and trading are not permitted, and there is no MiCA authorised European version. Trying to access HTX through a VPN does not change the contractual restriction and may create serious problems during verification or withdrawal.
Pros
- Large global range of markets
- Published base spot rate of 0.20%
- Advanced trading tools outside restricted countries
- Long operating history since the Huobi launch in 2013
Cons
- Unavailable to users in EU member states
- No MiCA authorisation
- No European registration link
- Token and volume discounts make costs more complex
- Global products and protections vary by jurisdiction
From Huobi to HTX
Huobi changed its name to HTX in September 2023. Existing accounts and the underlying global exchange continued under the new brand, while the old Huobi web address was moved to HTX.com.

The rebrand does not create a separate regulated European exchange. References to Huobi Global, Huobi Token discounts or an old Huobi referral code should therefore be read as historical information.
Is HTX available in Europe?
No. The current restriction covers every member state of the European Union. That includes the Netherlands, Spain and France.
HTX may still serve users in other parts of the world, subject to its local country list. Users outside Europe must check their own eligibility and the legal entity providing each product before depositing funds.
HTX products outside Europe
In supported countries HTX offers spot trading and may also provide margin, futures, copy trading, bots, staking and other earning products. The precise catalogue changes by jurisdiction.

High leverage and earning products carry extra risk. Even an eligible global user should check liquidation rules, funding costs, custody terms and withdrawal limits instead of relying on an old Huobi guide.
HTX fees
The published global Prime 0 rate is 0.20% maker and 0.20% taker for spot trading. Paying fees through HTX deduction lowers both rates to 0.15% at that level. Higher Prime levels can reduce costs further, but depend on trading volume, assets or token holdings.

Withdrawal charges depend on the asset and network. Margin interest, futures fees and funding are separate. These prices only describe the global platform; European residents cannot use them as an active offer.
Fees and costs
HTX fees below describe the global platform for eligible users. They are not an offer to EU residents, because HTX excludes all EU member states from its services.
Current availability
| Service | EU availability | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| New account | Unavailable | EU member states are restricted |
| Spot trading | Unavailable | No MiCA authorised EU service |
| Futures and margin | Unavailable | Do not bypass regional controls |
| European offer | None | Old Huobi promotions are not valid for EU users |
HTX or Bitvavo?
For European readers the choice is simple: HTX is unavailable, while Bitvavo operates with a MiCA authorisation from the Dutch AFM.
Bitvavo is aimed at regular euro deposits and spot trading. It does not reproduce every high risk product on the global HTX platform, but it provides a clear European legal and regulatory framework.

Is HTX reliable?
HTX has operated for many years and remains a major global exchange. That history is positive, but it does not remove regional restrictions or custody risk. The platform has also experienced security incidents over its lifetime, so users should never leave more on an exchange than they need for trading.
For an EU resident the decisive issue is availability. A platform that contractually excludes your country is not a suitable place to create an account, regardless of its global volume or features.
Conclusion of our HTX review
HTX is the new name for Huobi, but it is not a European exchange. It has no MiCA authorisation and its own agreement excludes every EU member state.
We give HTX 2 out of 5 for European users and do not provide a registration link. Choose an active authorised exchange instead and never try to bypass geographic restrictions.
