Coinmerce is a large Dutch provider with a MiCA licence, broad asset range and clear 0.25% trading fee. Its majority acquisition of BLOX and the Binance and BUX migrations made the group considerably larger. Pay particular attention to Custody, Yield and Spot Margin costs.
Coinmerce has grown into one of the largest Dutch crypto providers. It holds a MiCA licence from the Dutch AFM, supports more than 350 cryptocurrencies and charges a fixed 0.25% fee for buying, selling and swapping.
Its growth did not come only from organic signups. Binance referred its Dutch customers to Coinmerce in 2023 and most participating accounts and assets were migrated. Former BUX Crypto customers followed. In 2024, Coinmerce also acquired a 51% majority stake in BLOX.

Coinmerce review summary
Coinmerce was founded in 2017 and focuses on straightforward crypto trading through its app and website. Users can deposit euros, buy hundreds of assets and withdraw crypto to a personal wallet.
Its MiCA licence covers regulated crypto exchange, custody and transfer services. This gives Coinmerce a much stronger European position than platforms operating without authorisation.
The fixed 0.25% trading fee is clear, but not every product is cheap. Custody costs €1 per month and an additional 1% per year for crypto balances of €10,000 or more. Coinmerce may retain up to 75% of gross Yield revenue.
Pros
- MiCA licence from the Dutch AFM
- More than 350 cryptocurrencies
- Fixed 0.25% trading fee
- Free SEPA deposits and withdrawals
- Choice between Yield and Custody accounts
- Mobile app and European support
Cons
- Custody costs €1 per month plus 1% per year above €10,000
- Coinmerce may retain up to 75% of gross Yield revenue
- Spot Margin involves borrowing and liquidation fees
- No extensive futures or options platform
Binance customers moved to Coinmerce
Binance left the Dutch market in July 2023. Dutch customers were offered a route to move their accounts and crypto balances to Coinmerce, and most participating accounts and assets went through this migration.
Users were not required to remain at Coinmerce and could withdraw independently. The transition nevertheless made Coinmerce considerably larger in a short period.
Coinmerce acquired BLOX
In October 2024, Coinmerce acquired a 51% stake and therefore a majority interest in BLOX. This is commonly described as an acquisition, although BLOX continues to operate under its own brand.
The negotiations accelerated after an employee embezzlement incident at BLOX. Coinmerce says the acquisition resolved the temporary shortfall. The two apps remain separate but are connected through the majority ownership.

Opening a Coinmerce account
- Create an account in the app or on the website.
- Confirm your email address and phone number.
- Complete identity verification.
- Verify a bank account in your own name.
- Choose consciously between Yield and Custody.
- Deposit euros and review the costs before buying.
How to open an account with Coinmerce
Create an account
Open a free account and verify your identity (KYC) with an ID. This usually takes just a few minutes.
Deposit funds
Add euros with a payment method that suits you. Bank methods are usually free.
Buy Coinmerce
Go to the Coinmerce market, enter the amount you want to invest and confirm. You can buy a fraction; you don't need a whole coin.
Store it safely
Keep your Coinmerce in the exchange wallet or move it to your own wallet for full control. Never share your private keys or seed phrase.

Coinmerce fees
Buying, selling and swapping each costs 0.25%. A complete purchase and later sale therefore costs 0.50%, excluding payment or withdrawal fees.
SEPA deposits and withdrawals are free. Other payment methods cost between €0.30 and 1.50%.
The main consideration is the account type. Yield has no monthly subscription, but eligible crypto can be lent and Coinmerce may retain a substantial part of the gross revenue. Custody segregates assets but charges €1 per month and 1% per year from the published €10,000 threshold.
Fees and costs
In addition to trading fees, Coinmerce may charge payment, custody, Yield, withdrawal and Spot Margin costs. Exact amounts are displayed before confirmation.
Yield and Custody accounts
| Item | Fee | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| Buy crypto | 0.25% | Both account types |
| Sell crypto | 0.25% | Both account types |
| Swap crypto | 0.25% | Both account types |
Coinmerce or Bitvavo
Coinmerce and Bitvavo both hold Dutch MiCA licences and support euro payments. Coinmerce charges a simple fixed 0.25%, while Bitvavo uses volume tiers.
Coinmerce differentiates itself through its asset range, Yield, Custody and Spot Margin. Bitvavo can be cheaper for active traders who do not need paid Custody or a Yield arrangement.

Yield, Custody and Spot Margin
With Yield, eligible assets may generate rewards but introduce counterparty risk. Yield is not protected in the same way as regulated custody and exchange services.
The Custody account segregates crypto through foundation wallets and cold storage. Spot Margin adds another risk layer: opening currently costs 0%, voluntary closing 0.25% and liquidation 2% plus a possible liquidation spread. Borrowing costs accrue every four hours.

Is Coinmerce reliable?
The AFM MiCA licence is the strongest positive factor. It does not prevent market losses, operational problems or counterparty risk.
Coinmerce has become an important Dutch group through the Binance and BUX migrations and its majority stake in BLOX. Users should still distinguish between the separate brands, account types and terms.
Coinmerce experiences
The app is accessible and the fixed trading fee is easy to understand. Criticism is more likely to focus on paid Custody, the share of Yield revenue retained by Coinmerce and variable crypto withdrawal fees.
Conclusion of our Coinmerce review
Coinmerce is an active, MiCA licensed Dutch provider with a broad range and clear trading fees. The arrival of Dutch Binance and BUX customers and the majority acquisition of BLOX made the group much larger.
The 0.25% fee is reasonable for ordinary trading. Read the differences between Yield and Custody carefully, and use Spot Margin only if you understand its ongoing borrowing and liquidation costs.
Coinmerce reviews
-
Coinmerce have prevented me from accessing my account and are pressurising me to make a purchase of Crypto on EXODUS. I do not understand what is going on and am very concerned about why - I, as a customer should have such a request put to me? It doesn't make sense so I would appreciate any thoughts anyone may have on this within the community.
