What is this new Dune Bitcoin theory?

An interesting graph showing the price correlation between the price of Bitcoin and the premiere of both ‘Dune’ films went viral earlier this week. Furthermore, when it was added that the approval of the first film coincided with the 2017-2018 Bitcoin bull run, things got really interesting.

As a science fiction fan, I am intrigued.

The second part of the ‘Dune’ movie trilogy was released earlier this month, right around the time Bitcoin set a new all-time high.

A rather interesting chart showed how Bitcoin broke through the $20k level for the first time when the movie plans were announced back in 2017, hit its all-time high in 2021 when the first movie came out, and now set its new all-time high at the time of the second film’s premiere.

And there are even more details that make it very entertaining. The first film was actually supposed to be released at the end of 2020, but was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It hit theaters only in October 2021, or about 20 days before Bitcoin hit its highest point of the 2020-2021 bull run.

The second film was supposed to be released at the end of last year, but was also postponed due to the Hollywood strike. It was released in mid-February 2024, two weeks before Bitcoin set a new record high.

The movie, starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, like Frank Herbert’s 1965 historical novel, is a dramatic distortion of the journey of, hold on tight, the ‘Chosen One’ as he overthrows and takes over the existing empire. You will immediately recognize why Bitcoin fans are very excited about this chart.

The Dune Bitcoin theory therefore states that Bitcoin’s price rises every time a new Dune movie is released.

Dune 3 is scheduled to be released in 2027, so we can only hope it premieres sooner.
