Strategy Buys Bitcoin Again After Ten Weeks as Strive Strikes With $143M
Two major corporate Bitcoin holders are expanding their reserves almost simultaneously. Strategy is buying Bitcoin for the first time in ten weeks, putting down nearly $370 million. Strive is also buying heavily. Together, the two companies are adding 6,403 BTC to their balance sheets, worth more than $512 million in new purchases.
Strategy buys 4,603 Bitcoin
Between 24 and 30 August, Strategy bought a total of 4,603 BTC for around $369.7 million. The company paid an average of $80.318 per Bitcoin. The timing is particularly notable, because according to the shared data this is Strategy’s first Bitcoin purchase in ten weeks.
With the latest transaction, Strategy’s total holdings have grown to 845,050 BTC. The average purchase price across all of those Bitcoin now stands at $75.412.
That means the company has invested roughly $63.73 billion in its Bitcoin position in total. In addition to its huge crypto stockpile, Strategy currently holds around $5.10 billion in US dollar reserves, according to the figures it shared.
The purchase price of the latest coins is therefore well above Strategy’s historical average. The company continues to expand its position even after a period in which Bitcoin has risen sharply in value.
Strive also buys another $143 million
Strategy is not the only listed company taking advantage of the recent market move. Strive, the company associated with Vivek Ramaswamy, is buying another 1,800 BTC.
For this purchase, Strive is paying around $143 million, at an average price of $79.431 per Bitcoin. That brings the company’s total holdings to 23,156 BTC.
Based on the market value supplied, that Bitcoin position represents roughly $1.81 billion. With 845,050 BTC, however, Strategy remains many times larger.
Together, the two companies have bought 6,403 BTC. Based on the separately reported purchase amounts, that adds up to around $512.7 million.
Large companies keep accumulating Bitcoin
The new purchases are notable because Bitcoin is closing August particularly strongly. The price has risen sharply this month, and large corporate holders appear willing to increase their exposure despite those higher prices.
The return of Strategy is especially striking. After ten weeks without a new purchase, the company has started accumulating Bitcoin again, and it has done so immediately with a transaction of nearly $370 million.
At the same time, the two purchases show that the strategy of holding Bitcoin as a corporate reserve is not exclusive to Strategy. Strive is also building a billion-dollar position and has added another 1,800 BTC in a single transaction.
