MANTRA Chain Halts Operations After Suspected Exploit, Token Plunges to New Low

MANTRA Chain has ground to a complete halt after the team discovered a security incident. All transactions, bridges, deposits and withdrawals have been paused while developers work on a fix. The native token MANTRA immediately took another hit, sliding to a record low of around $0.0041 before a slight recovery.

Network deliberately shut down

According to MANTRA, the halt was a deliberate move to prevent any value from moving while the investigation is under way. Validators have been taken offline and all endpoints remain frozen.

The team says it has now identified an underlying vulnerability in an upstream software dependency. A patched version, v8.4.0, is currently being tested on the DuKong Testnet.

MANTRA stresses that user funds are not affected by the network shutdown itself. A full snapshot of the network state has also been taken ahead of the planned restart.

The aim is to restart Mainnet later on 21 August, but only if the tests go off without a hitch. Validators have been explicitly asked to keep their nodes offline until a coordinated restart is announced.

MANTRA slides sharply again

The market reaction was immediately negative. MANTRA fell roughly 18% during the turmoil, at one point trading at around $0.0041, a new all-time low.

At the time of the latest price data, MANTRA was trading at around $0.004544. That is 8.97% lower than 24 hours earlier and 7.60% lower over seven days.

With roughly 5.6 billion tokens in circulation, the market capitalisation stands at approximately $25.5 million. The 24-hour trading volume is more than $23 million.

The timing is especially painful because MANTRA had already lost around 90% of its value in April 2025. The new incident has therefore once again raised concerns about confidence in the project.

For now, the main question is how extensive the actual damage is. MANTRA says it cannot yet share all the details about the scope and cause. Until a full post-mortem is published, it remains unclear how much value may have been taken and how quickly the network can be safely resumed.
