In the past week, you’ve probably all heard that famed movie director Quentin Tarantino decided to enter the cryptosphere by selling a few NFTs related to his legendary movie Pulp Fiction. Miramax, the production company of the movie, was not amused though.

Block the sale

Miramax in essence decided to go to war with director Quentin Tarantino over the rights to the film and the sale of the non-fungible tokens (NFTs) associated with them. The film production company has started a court process to block the sale. Last week already, Miramax filed a complaint against Quentin Tarantino regarding sales of Pulp Fiction’s NFT, the movie originally released in 1994.

We all know #NFTs are the future. We’re bringing some legacy media to the space by digitizing the manuscripts to of Quentin Tarantino screenplays. When you see future #NFT growth, what does it look like to you? Let us know. Let’s keeping building the future together.

The film production company in effect accuses the director of copyright infringement, breach of contract, and unfair competition. Miramax also accuses him of having carried out his press campaign on NFTs without having contacted the company.

To put it mildly, from Miramax’s point of view, they own the rights to the movie as executive producers. Tarantino on the other hand does not own the rights to his movie Pulp Fiction and therefore cannot sell any item from the movie, even as digital tokens.

Tarantino’s lawyer Bryan Freedman replied that:

Miramax is wrong—plain and simple.
