FTX celebrity trial against promotors like Stephen Curry, Tom Brady and Larry David to go ahead

Earlier this year, comedian Larry David, star of the very popular series ‘Curb your enthusiasm’, spoke for the very first time about that famous 2022 FTX super bowl commercial (for which he was paid millions of dollars).

Larry finally commented because it was believed that the celebrities who once promoted FTX would never be charged as FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried had since been convicted of fraud (and recently received a 25-year prison sentence).

Larry probably regrets those statements by now because the former FTX customers, who hope to recover some of their funds in the future, have decided to go ahead with their lawsuit against all celebrities hired by FTX.

Plea deal

Last month, Sam Bankman-Fried, 32, was sentenced to 25 years in prison. SBF’s original co-defendants, including his ex-girlfriend Caroline Ellison, who worked as head of his investment fund Alameda Research, FTX co-founder Gary Wang and former company executive Nishad Singh, had already agreed to an out-of-court settlement (also known as a ‘plea deal’ in the United States) in order to avoid a prison sentence.

Ellison, Wang and Singh thus handed over information to the public prosecutor to help make it easier to convict SBF.

Sam Bankman-Fried is now doing the same for FTX’s former customers, but this time against the celebrities he once hired to advertise his now bankrupt crypto platform.

NFL legend Tom Brady, his ex-wife Gisele Bundchen and “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star David appeared alongside Steph Curry, Shaquille O’Neill (who made fun of it last year, see video) and Naomi Osaka in ads featuring FTX. They are now all being sued.

Hence the countdown is on for another ‘celebrity’ crypto-trial in the United States.
