Ethereum Shows Growing Strength Against Bitcoin

Ethereum is showing an increasingly strong technical picture against Bitcoin. The ETH/BTC ratio is attempting to break out of a longer-term downtrend and is trading around 0.0314 BTC. According to analyst Michaël van de Poppe, the zone around 0.03 is especially important. As long as it holds, he sees room for a much larger move in the coming months.

Zone around 0.03 BTC becomes crucial

The chart shows that ETH/BTC, after months of weakness, is again trying to hold higher levels. The ratio is currently moving around 0.0314 and is thereby testing an area that has previously acted as resistance several times.

Van de Poppe sees 0.03 BTC as an important tipping point. If Ethereum stays above that level, he says, the chances increase that the recent breakout will continue.

The next clear resistance lies around 0.0320 to 0.0334 BTC. Above that, according to the chart, a much larger zone comes into view.

Possible target around 0.044 BTC

Van de Poppe ultimately cites 0.044 BTC as a possible price target for ETH/BTC. From the current ratio of around 0.0314, that would represent a rise of approximately 40%.

That does not automatically mean Ethereum will rise just as much in dollar terms. ETH/BTC purely measures how much Bitcoin one Ethereum is worth. A rise in this ratio therefore means Ethereum is outperforming Bitcoin.

The analyst also links his positive expectations to momentum around possible approval of the Clarity Act. In his view, that could bring extra confidence to the market and particularly support altcoins.

For now, the technical message remains fairly clear: as long as ETH/BTC stays above roughly 0.03, the bullish scenario holds. A fall back below that level would weaken the picture again.
