Altcoins add $90bn in two days, approach $1 trillion market cap
It is not only Bitcoin that is benefiting from the sharply improved mood on the crypto market. Altcoins are rallying too. The combined market capitalisation of all cryptocurrencies excluding Bitcoin has risen by more than $90 billion in just two days, putting it close to the $1 trillion mark.
Ethereum, XRP and HYPE climb sharply
The gains are broad-based. Hyperliquid is among the strongest large altcoins, with a rise of around 21%. Ethereum is up roughly 18%, while XRP has also gained about 18%.
Other well-known coins are joining in. Solana is up around 12%, Monad has added 20% and Ethena is 18% higher.
The chart of the total altcoin market shows how abrupt the turnaround is. After a prolonged period around $880 billion, the combined market capitalisation has jumped to roughly $970 billion. That brings the psychological $1 trillion barrier rapidly into view.
Capital is flowing into crypto more widely
The move follows Bitcoin’s strong rally, with the leading cryptocurrency now trading above $71.000. A first leg higher in Bitcoin often draws fresh capital into crypto, after which investors also look to altcoins for additional returns.
That now appears to be happening in part. The advance is not confined to a single sector or blockchain, but is visible across Layer 1 networks, DeFi projects and other major tokens.
A break above $1 trillion for the altcoin market would be a largely symbolic milestone. It does not automatically mean a new altseason has begun. For that to happen, the strength in altcoins would need to last longer, and the development of Bitcoin dominance is among the key signals to watch.
For now, however, the turnaround is decisive: in barely two days, more than $90 billion in market value has flowed back into altcoins.
