How to buy Uniswap, step by step
Choose an exchange that offers UNI
Pick an exchange from the list above that holds a MiCA authorisation and offers Uniswap. Create an account and switch on two-factor authentication straight away.
Complete your identity check
MiCA requires identity verification. Upload a valid ID and take a selfie or short video, and it is typically approved within minutes.
Deposit euros
Put in from € 5 with a credit card, a SEPA bank transfer or Wero. Card and Wero show up almost at once, while a SEPA transfer costs nothing but takes a business day.
Buy UNI
Choose Uniswap, enter an amount in euros and confirm. Part of a UNI is fine too. UNI is an ERC20 token, so sending it over Ethereum involves network fees.
Store your UNI
Leave your UNI on the exchange or send it to a wallet of your own. With UNI you can vote on proposals about the Uniswap protocol.
Payment methods
You can fund your account and buy Uniswap with:
- iDEAL: Direct, gratis (NL)
- Bancontact: Direct (BE)
- SEPA overboeking: Gratis bankoverschriving, 1 werkdag
- Wero: Direct van bank naar bank
- PayPal: Hoge fee van 2%
- Creditcard: Hoge fees van rond de 3%
Where can I buy Uniswap?
You can buy Uniswap at various European exchanges, from as little as € 5 and without technical knowledge. We only show exchanges that hold a MiCA authorisation and actually offer UNI. You pay by credit card, SEPA bank transfer or Wero.

Only exchanges with a MiCA authorisation
Throughout the European Union, MiCA has been the standard since 30 December 2024. The transition period granted to previously registered firms ended in 2025, leaving a national registration alone no longer enough. What a MiCA authorisation means for you:
- An EU regulator supervises the exchange on a continuous basis
- The exchange has to keep your euros and coins separate from its own capital
- All costs and risks must be explained clearly in advance
- A compulsory KYC check verifies who you are
An authorisation says nothing about the price risk, which stays with you.
The Uniswap price and volatility
Investing in crypto is risky, and with UNI there is an extra layer because it is tied to a DeFi platform. The UNI price can move sharply up and down. The chart below gives an impression of how the price has moved over time. Limit yourself to money you can afford to lose.

What is Uniswap?
Uniswap is the best-known decentralized exchange, or DEX for short. Instead of matching buyers and sellers like an ordinary exchange, Uniswap uses so-called liquidity pools: pots of tokens you can swap from directly, with a formula setting the price. Anyone can add tokens to such a pool and share in the fees. The protocol was built in 2018 by Hayden Adams and runs on Ethereum.
UNI is the accompanying coin, issued in 2020. It is an ERC20 token that serves mainly as a governance token: holders can submit and vote on proposals about the protocol. UNI therefore does not pay a classic staking reward, but gives you a say in the direction of Uniswap.
Developments: v4, Unichain and the SEC
Uniswap has been developed further in recent years. In early 2025 version 4 of the protocol appeared, making it cheaper and more flexible to set up pools. In the same period Uniswap Labs launched its own Layer 2 network called Unichain, aimed at faster and cheaper transactions. On the regulatory side there was news too: in February 2025 the US regulator SEC said it was dropping its investigation into Uniswap Labs, without charges.
Storing Uniswap in a wallet
After your purchase, your UNI sits in the exchange wallet, which controls the keys. For control yourself, send UNI to a wallet of your own. Your options:
- Exchange wallet: available on the exchange, convenient, but you do not manage the keys
- Software wallet: MetaMask, OKX Wallet or Trust Wallet (UNI is an ERC20 token, so any Ethereum wallet works)
- Hardware wallet: a device such as a Ledger or Trezor that keeps your keys offline, the safest route for larger amounts
A wallet you hold yourself provides a recovery phrase of usually twelve or twenty-four words. That phrase unlocks your UNI, so keep it offline, never share it and never photograph it. Without the phrase your Uniswap is gone.
How do I choose an exchange to buy Uniswap?
The UNI you receive is the same at each exchange, so compare them on the terms:
- The trading fees and the spread charged
- Which watchdog granted the MiCA authorisation
- Whether UNI is offered
- Good, ideally local-language support
- Which payment methods are supported (credit card, SEPA bank transfer or Wero)
The Uniswap price can move fast in either direction, which an authorisation does nothing to soften. Decide yourself how much you can afford to lose and always do your own research.
