How to buy Synthetix, step by step
Check whether the exchange offers SNX
Not every exchange with a MiCA authorisation lists Synthetix. Check the overview above and the trading pair, usually SNX/EUR or SNX/USDT.
Complete your identity check
Under MiCA a KYC check is mandatory. You upload a valid ID document and take a selfie or short video, usually done within a few minutes.
Deposit euros
Deposit from € 5 by credit card, a SEPA bank transfer or Wero, which lands almost instantly. A SEPA transfer is free but takes a business day.
Buy SNX
Choose Synthetix, enter an amount in euros and confirm. SNX is an ERC20 token, so sending it over Ethereum involves network fees.
Store or stake it
Leave your SNX on the exchange or send it to a wallet of your own. You can stake SNX in the protocol and take part in governance.
Payment methods
You can fund your account and buy Synthetix with:
- iDEAL: Direct, gratis (NL)
- Bancontact: Direct (BE)
- SEPA overboeking: Gratis bankoverschriving, 1 werkdag
- Wero: Direct van bank naar bank
- PayPal: Hoge fee van 2%
- Creditcard: Hoge fees van rond de 3%
Where can I buy Synthetix?
You can buy Synthetix at the SNX exchanges we show on this page, from as little as € 5. We only show exchanges that hold a MiCA authorisation. You pay by credit card, SEPA bank transfer or Wero.

Only exchanges with a MiCA authorisation
Since 30 December 2024 the MiCA regulation applies across the European Union, and national transition arrangements for previously registered firms ended in the course of 2025, so a national registration alone is no longer enough. What a MiCA authorisation means for you:
- The exchange is under ongoing supervision by an EU regulator
- Your euros and crypto are kept separate from the exchange’s own assets
- Costs and risks must be stated clearly in advance
- A KYC identity check is mandatory
An authorisation says nothing about the price risk, which stays with you.
The Synthetix price and volatility
Investing in Synthetix is risky, as the SNX price can rise and fall quickly. The chart below gives an impression of how the price has moved over time. Only invest money you can afford to lose.
What is Synthetix?
Synthetix is a DeFi protocol on Ethereum for trading derivatives on chain. It lets people trade so-called synthetic assets and perpetual futures, whose value tracks that of another asset, entirely through smart contracts rather than a central exchange. To make that possible, the protocol relies on collateral supplied by users. The project was founded in 2018 by Kain Warwick and also runs on faster and cheaper networks such as Optimism and Base.
SNX is the token of the protocol. Holders can stake SNX to back the trading that happens on the platform and to earn a share of the fees, and they take part in governance decisions about the protocol.
Storing Synthetix in a wallet
After your purchase, your SNX sits in the exchange wallet, which controls the keys. For larger amounts or longer-term storage, a wallet of your own is safer. Your options:
- Exchange wallet: built in at the exchange, easy, but you do not hold the keys
- Software wallet: MetaMask, OKX Wallet or Trust Wallet (SNX is an ERC20 token, so any Ethereum wallet works)
- Hardware wallet: a device such as a Ledger or Trezor that keeps your keys offline, safest for larger amounts
With a wallet of your own you get a recovery phrase of usually twelve or twenty-four words. Whoever has those words has access to your SNX, so keep it offline, never share it and never take a photo of it. If you lose the recovery phrase, your Synthetix cannot be recovered.
How do I choose an exchange to buy Synthetix?
Every exchange delivers the same SNX, so the difference is in the terms:
- How high the trading fees and the spread are
- Which regulator granted the MiCA authorisation
- Whether Synthetix is offered
- Whether there is an app and support in your language
- Which payment methods are available (credit card, SEPA bank transfer or Wero)
The Synthetix price can move sharply, and an authorisation does not change that. Decide for yourself how much you can afford to lose and do your own research.
