Buy LEO Token (LEO)

LEO Token (LEO), officially UNUS SED LEO, is the utility token of the Bitfinex and iFinex ecosystem. Availability is limited and its value is closely tied to a single company and trading platform.

Where can I buy LEO Token?

LEO mainly trades at Bitfinex and a limited number of other venues. It is not a standard listing at the large European euro exchanges. Check whether a provider can serve your country, what regulation applies, which pairs have meaningful liquidity and whether withdrawals are enabled.

We do not show an automatic exchange comparison because the fixed European providers on this site do not all offer LEO. Do not select a token based on the ticker alone: verify the full name and contract address.

What is UNUS SED LEO?

iFinex, Bitfinex’s parent company, issued LEO in 2019. Holders can receive benefits inside the ecosystem, including discounts on certain trading, deposit or withdrawal charges. Its utility is therefore closely connected to Bitfinex’s services and policies.

Under the token model, iFinex uses part of its revenue and certain recovered funds to buy LEO in the market and burn it. These burns can be followed on a transparency page. A falling supply does not guarantee a rising price.

Dependence on one platform

LEO is an exchange token. Regulatory changes, security incidents, market share, changes to benefits or access to Bitfinex can all affect its use and market confidence.

Trading can also be concentrated in a small number of markets. A large reported market capitalisation is not the same as deep liquidity for every order.

Networks and storage

LEO exists as an ERC20 token on Ethereum and on Vaulta, the network previously known as EOS. Confirm which network the exchange uses for a withdrawal and choose a compatible wallet. Selecting the wrong network or omitting a required memo can cause a loss.

An Ethereum wallet or supported hardware wallet can hold ERC20 LEO. Verify the official contract and make a small test withdrawal first.

Main risks

  • Strong dependence on Bitfinex and iFinex
  • Limited European availability
  • Liquidity concentrated in relatively few markets
  • Changes to discount and burn mechanisms
  • Network and smart-contract risks

The LEO price can behave differently from the wider crypto market. Do your own research and only risk money you can afford to lose.
