How to buy Digibyte, step by step

1

Check whether the exchange offers DGB

Not every exchange with a MiCA authorisation lists DigiByte. Check the overview above and the trading pair, usually DGB/EUR or DGB/USDT.

2

Complete your identity check

Under MiCA a KYC check is mandatory. You upload a valid ID document and take a selfie or short video, usually done within a few minutes.

3

Deposit euros

Deposit from € 5 by credit card, a SEPA bank transfer or Wero, which lands almost instantly. A SEPA transfer is free but takes a business day.

4

Buy DGB

Choose DigiByte, enter an amount in euros and confirm. A fraction of a DGB is fine, at the price applying at that moment.

5

Store your DGB

Leave your DGB on the exchange or send it to a wallet of your own. For larger amounts held for longer, a wallet of your own is safer.

Payment methods

You can fund your account and buy Digibyte with:

  • iDEAL: Direct, gratis (NL)
  • Bancontact: Direct (BE)
  • SEPA overboeking: Gratis bankoverschriving, 1 werkdag
  • Wero: Direct van bank naar bank
  • PayPal: Hoge fee van 2%
  • Creditcard: Hoge fees van rond de 3%

Where can I buy DigiByte?

You can buy DigiByte at the DGB exchanges we show on this page, from as little as € 5. We only show exchanges that hold a MiCA authorisation. You pay by credit card, SEPA bank transfer or Wero.

Only exchanges with a MiCA authorisation

Since 30 December 2024 the MiCA regulation applies across the European Union, and national transition arrangements for previously registered firms ended in the course of 2025, so a national registration alone is no longer enough. What a MiCA authorisation means for you:

  • The exchange is under ongoing supervision by an EU regulator
  • Your euros and crypto are kept separate from the exchange’s own assets
  • Costs and risks must be stated clearly in advance
  • A KYC identity check is mandatory

An authorisation says nothing about the price risk, which stays with you.

The DigiByte price and volatility

Investing in DigiByte is risky, as the DGB price can rise and fall quickly. The chart below gives an impression of how the price has moved over time. Only invest money you can afford to lose.

What is DigiByte?

DigiByte started in 2014 and is one of the longest-running blockchains around. The network focuses on fast, cheap and secure transactions. DigiByte runs on Proof of Work, but uses five different mining algorithms side by side. That spreads control over the network and makes it harder for a single party to take over. Blocks follow each other quickly, roughly every fifteen seconds.

DigiByte never had an ICO or premine: all coins come from mining. Beyond the coin itself, the project has DigiAssets, with which you can put your own tokens and data on the chain, and DigiID, a way to log in without a password using your own keys.

Storing DigiByte in a wallet

After your purchase, your DGB sits in the exchange wallet, which controls the keys. For larger amounts or longer-term storage, a wallet of your own is safer. Your options:

  • Exchange wallet: built in at the exchange, easy, but you do not hold the keys
  • Software wallet: the official DigiByte wallet for desktop and mobile
  • Hardware wallet: a device such as a Ledger or Trezor that keeps your keys offline, safest for larger amounts

With a wallet of your own you get a recovery phrase of usually twelve or twenty-four words. Whoever has those words has access to your DGB, so keep it offline, never share it and never take a photo of it. If you lose the recovery phrase, your DigiByte cannot be recovered.

How do I choose an exchange to buy DigiByte?

Every exchange delivers the same DGB, so the difference is in the terms:

  • How high the trading fees and the spread are
  • Which regulator granted the MiCA authorisation
  • Whether DigiByte is offered
  • Whether there is an app and support in your language
  • Which payment methods are available (credit card, SEPA bank transfer or Wero)

The DigiByte price can move sharply, and an authorisation does not change that. Decide for yourself how much you can afford to lose and do your own research.
