How to buy Bitcoin Cash, step by step

1

Choose an exchange with a MiCA authorisation

Find an exchange in the list above that holds a MiCA authorisation and offers Bitcoin Cash. Create an account and switch on two-factor authentication straight away.

2

Complete your identity check

MiCA requires a KYC check before you can trade. Upload a valid ID and take a selfie or short video, usually completed in a few minutes.

3

Deposit euros

Deposit from € 5 using credit card, SEPA bank transfer or Wero. Credit card and Wero credit your account almost at once; a free SEPA transfer takes a business day.

4

Buy BCH

Choose Bitcoin Cash, enter an amount in euros and confirm. You do not have to buy a whole BCH; a fraction is fine, at the price applying at that moment.

5

Store your Bitcoin Cash safely

Leave your BCH on the exchange or send it to a wallet of your own. Bitcoin Cash is a Proof of Work coin, so staking is not possible.

Payment methods

You can fund your account and buy Bitcoin Cash with:

  • iDEAL: Direct, gratis (NL)
  • Bancontact: Direct (BE)
  • SEPA overboeking: Gratis bankoverschriving, 1 werkdag
  • Wero: Direct van bank naar bank
  • PayPal: Hoge fee van 2%
  • Creditcard: Hoge fees van rond de 3%

Where can I buy Bitcoin Cash?

You can buy Bitcoin Cash at various European exchanges from as little as € 5, and buying it is as easy as ordering from a web shop. We show just the exchanges that hold a MiCA authorisation. Since 30 December 2024 the MiCA regulation applies across the European Union, and national transition arrangements for previously registered firms ended in the course of 2025, so a national registration alone is no longer enough. You pay by credit card, SEPA bank transfer or Wero.

The Bitcoin Cash price and volatility

Investing in cryptocurrency in general is risky. The Bitcoin Cash price can make big jumps in a short time, so there is a chance you lose money after buying. The chart below gives an impression of how the price has moved over time. Only invest money you do not need for essential things. An authorisation of the exchange says something about supervision, not about that price risk.

What is Bitcoin Cash?

Bitcoin Cash came into being on 1 August 2017 as a hard fork of Bitcoin. Within the Bitcoin community there was a debate about the size of the blocks: one group wanted bigger blocks to process more transactions and so pay less and faster. When no agreement was reached, that group split off with Bitcoin Cash, which uses larger blocks.

Technically BCH resembles Bitcoin: it is a Proof of Work network in which miners process the transactions, with the same maximum of 21 million coins and a halving that roughly halves the reward every four years. The last halving was in April 2024. In 2018 there was a further split from Bitcoin Cash itself, out of which Bitcoin SV emerged. BCH focuses mainly on fast and cheap payments.

Storing Bitcoin Cash in a wallet

After your purchase, your BCH sits in the exchange wallet, which controls the keys. For larger amounts or longer-term storage, a wallet of your own is safer. Your options:

  • Exchange wallet: built in at the exchange and simple, but you do not hold the keys yourself
  • Software wallet: the Bitcoin.com wallet or Electron Cash, where you control the keys yourself
  • Hardware wallet: an offline key device such as a Ledger or Trezor, safest for larger amounts

A wallet in your own control comes with a recovery phrase of usually twelve or twenty-four words. Those words unlock your BCH, so keep them offline, never share them and never photograph them. Lose the phrase and your Bitcoin Cash cannot be brought back.

How do I choose an exchange to buy Bitcoin Cash?

Almost every licensed exchange in Europe offers BCH and delivers exactly the same coin, so you can choose based on what you find important:

  • How the trading fees and the spread stack up
  • From which supervisor the MiCA authorisation comes
  • A simple buy-and-sell system
  • A built-in wallet and a mobile app
  • Good support in your language

The Bitcoin Cash price can change quickly and an authorisation does not change that. Decide for yourself how much you can afford to lose and do your own research.
