How to buy Balancer, step by step
Check whether the exchange offers BAL
Not every exchange with a MiCA authorisation lists Balancer. Check the overview above and the trading pair, usually BAL/EUR or BAL/USDT.
Complete your identity check
Under MiCA a KYC check is mandatory. You upload a valid ID document and take a selfie or short video, usually done within a few minutes.
Deposit euros
Deposit from € 5 by credit card, a SEPA bank transfer or Wero, which lands almost instantly. A SEPA transfer is free but takes a business day.
Buy BAL
Choose Balancer, enter an amount in euros and confirm. BAL is an ERC20 token, so sending it over Ethereum involves network fees.
Store or vote
Leave your BAL on the exchange or send it to a wallet of your own. With BAL you can vote on proposals about the Balancer protocol.
Payment methods
You can fund your account and buy Balancer with:
- iDEAL: Direct, gratis (NL)
- Bancontact: Direct (BE)
- SEPA overboeking: Gratis bankoverschriving, 1 werkdag
- Wero: Direct van bank naar bank
- PayPal: Hoge fee van 2%
- Creditcard: Hoge fees van rond de 3%
Where can I buy Balancer?
You can buy Balancer at the BAL exchanges we show on this page, from as little as € 5. We only show exchanges that hold a MiCA authorisation. You pay by credit card, SEPA bank transfer or Wero.

Only exchanges with a MiCA authorisation
Since 30 December 2024 the MiCA regulation applies across the European Union, and national transition arrangements for previously registered firms ended in the course of 2025, so a national registration alone is no longer enough. What a MiCA authorisation means for you:
- The exchange is under ongoing supervision by an EU regulator
- Your euros and crypto are kept separate from the exchange’s own assets
- Costs and risks must be stated clearly in advance
- A KYC identity check is mandatory
An authorisation says nothing about the price risk, which stays with you.
The Balancer price and volatility
Investing in Balancer is risky, as the BAL price can rise and fall quickly. The chart below gives an impression of how the price has moved over time. Only invest money you can afford to lose.
What is Balancer?
Balancer is a decentralized exchange and automated market maker on Ethereum. Instead of an order book, it uses liquidity pools that people can swap from directly. What sets Balancer apart is that a pool can hold several tokens at once and in flexible proportions, a bit like an index that rebalances itself. Anyone can provide tokens to a pool and earn a share of the trading fees, and projects can set up pools tuned to their own needs.
BAL is the governance token of the protocol. Holders can submit and vote on proposals about how Balancer develops, for example around fees and incentives.
Storing Balancer in a wallet
After your purchase, your BAL sits in the exchange wallet, which controls the keys. For larger amounts or longer-term storage, a wallet of your own is safer. Your options:
- Exchange wallet: built in at the exchange, easy, but you do not hold the keys
- Software wallet: MetaMask, OKX Wallet or Trust Wallet (BAL is an ERC20 token, so any Ethereum wallet works)
- Hardware wallet: a device such as a Ledger or Trezor that keeps your keys offline, safest for larger amounts
With a wallet of your own you get a recovery phrase of usually twelve or twenty-four words. Whoever has those words has access to your BAL, so keep it offline, never share it and never take a photo of it. If you lose the recovery phrase, your Balancer cannot be recovered.
How do I choose an exchange to buy Balancer?
Every exchange delivers the same BAL, so the difference is in the terms:
- How high the trading fees and the spread are
- Which regulator granted the MiCA authorisation
- Whether Balancer is offered
- Whether there is an app and support in your language
- Which payment methods are available (credit card, SEPA bank transfer or Wero)
The Balancer price can move sharply, and an authorisation does not change that. Decide for yourself how much you can afford to lose and do your own research.
