How to buy Shiba Inu, step by step

1

Check whether the exchange offers SHIB

Not every exchange with a MiCA authorisation lists Shiba Inu. Check the overview above and the trading pair, usually SHIB/EUR or SHIB/USDT.

2

Complete your identity check

Under MiCA a KYC check is mandatory. You upload a valid ID document and take a selfie or short video, usually done within a few minutes.

3

Deposit euros

Deposit from € 5 by credit card, a SEPA bank transfer or Wero, which lands almost instantly. A SEPA transfer is free but takes a business day.

4

Buy SHIB

Choose Shiba Inu, enter an amount in euros and confirm. Because the price per SHIB is tiny, you receive a very large number of tokens for a small amount.

5

Store your SHIB

Leave your SHIB on the exchange or send it to a wallet of your own. SHIB is an ERC20 token, so any Ethereum wallet works.

Payment methods

You can fund your account and buy Shiba Inu with:

  • iDEAL: Direct, gratis (NL)
  • Bancontact: Direct (BE)
  • SEPA overboeking: Gratis bankoverschriving, 1 werkdag
  • Wero: Direct van bank naar bank
  • PayPal: Hoge fee van 2%
  • Creditcard: Hoge fees van rond de 3%

Where can I buy Shiba Inu?

You can buy Shiba Inu at the SHIB exchanges we show on this page, from as little as € 5. We only show exchanges that hold a MiCA authorisation. You pay by credit card, SEPA bank transfer or Wero.

Only exchanges with a MiCA authorisation

Since 30 December 2024 the MiCA regulation applies across the European Union, and national transition arrangements for previously registered firms ended in the course of 2025, so a national registration alone is no longer enough. What a MiCA authorisation means for you:

  • The exchange is under ongoing supervision by an EU regulator
  • Your euros and crypto are kept separate from the exchange’s own assets
  • Costs and risks must be stated clearly in advance
  • A KYC identity check is mandatory

An authorisation says nothing about the price risk, which stays with you.

The Shiba Inu price and volatility

Investing in Shiba Inu is risky, and as a meme coin it can be even more volatile than the average crypto. The price is driven largely by sentiment and attention. The chart below gives an impression of how the price has moved over time. Only invest money you can afford to lose.

What is Shiba Inu?

Shiba Inu (SHIB) is a meme coin that launched in 2020, inspired by the same dog theme as Dogecoin. It started as an experiment with a huge token supply, which is why the price per SHIB is a tiny fraction of a cent and you receive very large numbers of tokens. SHIB grew into one of the best-known meme coins thanks to an active community, often called the SHIB Army.

Around SHIB an ecosystem has grown that goes beyond the coin itself. There are related tokens such as LEASH and BONE, a decentralized exchange called ShibaSwap, and Shibarium, a Layer 2 network launched in 2023 that aims to make transactions cheaper. SHIB itself is an ERC20 token on Ethereum.

Storing Shiba Inu in a wallet

After your purchase, your SHIB sits in the exchange wallet, which controls the keys. For larger amounts or longer-term storage, a wallet of your own is safer. Your options:

  • Exchange wallet: built in at the exchange, easy, but you do not hold the keys
  • Software wallet: MetaMask, OKX Wallet or Trust Wallet (SHIB is an ERC20 token, so any Ethereum wallet works)
  • Hardware wallet: a device such as a Ledger or Trezor that keeps your keys offline, safest for larger amounts

With a wallet of your own you get a recovery phrase of usually twelve or twenty-four words. Whoever has those words has access to your SHIB, so keep it offline, never share it and never take a photo of it. If you lose the recovery phrase, your Shiba Inu cannot be recovered.

How do I choose an exchange to buy Shiba Inu?

Every exchange delivers the same SHIB, so the difference is in the terms:

  • How high the trading fees and the spread are
  • Which regulator granted the MiCA authorisation
  • Whether Shiba Inu is offered
  • Whether there is an app and support in your language
  • Which payment methods are available (credit card, SEPA bank transfer or Wero)

The Shiba Inu price can move sharply, and an authorisation does not change that. Decide for yourself how much you can afford to lose and do your own research.
